Permission Pass

There are two standard methods for receiving consent from your recipients. The first and only recommended way to get consent is a sign up form (email your recipients with a link to go fill out that form on your website).

n alternative is a permission pass email, but it must closely match your usual content. A simple request for confirmation may be flagged as sending without proper consent, which can hurt deliverability. Including your normal content along with a consent link helps avoid this issue.

A permission pass email typically includes a link such as “Yes, I consent,” which directs recipients to a page confirming their subscription. The page itself should clearly acknowledge that their consent has been recorded and that no further action is needed.

  • Include a consent link (e.g., “Yes, I consent”) in your email
  • Link to a page confirming the recipient’s consent
  • Ensure the page provides clear confirmation feedback
  • Use Link Tracking to identify who clicked the consent link
  • Add or move those recipients to a confirmed sending list

  • Go to the Link Tracking & Heatmap tab
  • Find your consent link
  • In the Action column, click More Options (… )
  • Select Copy Clickers to List
  • Choose to create a new list or append to an existing one

It’s recommended to wait 24–48 hours before collecting clickers to allow late recipients time to view and provide consent.
